Wanderer Speaks United sat down, on the 21st of August, just before the school year kicked off, with Father, educator and edupreneur Julian Johnson-Marshall to discuss the importance of art in classrooms, his personal life and the community. Julian teaches high school English at De La Salle Education Center in Kansas City, MO and is no stranger to the microphone or the camera. Mr. Johnson-Marshall is can be spotted in various video interviews supporting his community, in all of its intersectionality, with deep conviction. He is also one half of the pod cast The Roux. The Roux is a “bi-weekly mix of unapologetic and unfiltered takes on Black Culture, healthy lifestyles, and Hip-Hop hosted by Mz, Angela Roux and Poppa Ju da Don” (Julian Johnson-Marshall). Wanderer Speaks United donated classroom supplies to help De La Salle during this school year.

“For the writer it is the process of writing that is art for them. For the reader it is the experience that is art for them. But when you do it all in a classroom, you are not just creating or experiencing but you are also exploring and analyzing the impact of it.”
“Art to me is liberating. It is a space in which is self defined, self determined, and self actualized.”
“In art, every mistake is progress!”
“Art is a space in which you can go wildly into the direction of your dreams!”
